Rosie Fea is a New Zealand born writer and anthropologist. She came to Ano Asites in search of unusual Greek stories/ myths.
One of the interesting legends in the village is of fairies that live in the landscape. In the 1940s a local lady made a tapestry of a love story between a man and a fairy. We tracked down the handmade piece and and Rosie documented it. Eleni came from Australia but her parents were born in Greece. She came to Crete to record locals making their own recipes, in their own kitchens. The cultural association of Ano Asites, organised Eleni to spend time with another Eleni, who's last name is Milliaraki. They made a few village recipes in the Eleni's kitchen.
Ilona was the first artist to spend a week in the new Ano Asites artists residency. She loved her time in the village so much that she wanted to leave a mural as a present.
